Changes to parking in Maryborough CBD

In recent times our local business community and service providers have been calling on us to enforce parking restrictions in Maryborough’s CBD.

They’ve seen an increasing number of motorists parking in the CBD precinct all day, which has meant potential customers haven’t been able to access time-limited car parking spaces when doing their shopping or accessing services.

From Monday 7 August, Council’s Local Laws team will begin patrolling the Maryborough CBD.

Throughout August they’ll be issuing warnings to motorists who overstay in time designated spaces and who use disabled bays when not permitted to do so. From early September fines will be issued for those that do not comply with restrictions.

This approach complements the Maryborough Police who have recently been enforcing parking in loading zones and no standing areas.

We urge community members to support these changes which will increase turnover of car parking spaces and better support our local business community.

ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Public Transport Users: We want to hear from you

Public transport is a vital service to support community members who can't drive themselves. It connects us to work, school, shops, services, friends, and family. This is especially true for young people who can't get a driver's license until they are 17.

The Youth Council is asking community members of all ages to share their stories and experiences of public transport to show the need for more public transport options via a campaign.

Even if you don’t take public transport yourself, your opinion is important to us.

You can complete the survey online here: www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/transportsurvey
