Central Goldfields Shire Tourism & Events(PDF, 5MB)

This strategy was adopted at Council on 24 March 2020 (Council also adopted the Economic Development Strategy). Central Goldfields Shire Council is planning for the Shire’s economic future by preparing a Tourism and Events Strategy to provide a clear vision and action plan for growing the Central Goldfields tourism industry.

The Strategy provides a plan for future growth and enhancement of the Central Goldfields visitor economy to benefit visitors and locals alike through focusing on the existing and potential tourism and product strengths of the region, and addressing any gaps and barriers to successful and sustainable visitor economy growth.

Council partnered with Urban Enterprise to undertake initial consultation, independent research and analysis to identify the most important local issues within broader regional, national and global trends and put forward some potential actions for inclusion in the strategy.

Bendigo Region Destination Management Plan(PDF, 10MB)

The Bendigo Regional Tourism Board has developed a Destination Management Plan (DMP) which examines current data and trends in regional tourism.  It builds on the Bendigo region’s (Central Goldfields Shire, Mount Alexander Shire, Loddon Shire and City of Greater Bendigo) strong growth and tourism potential to deliver a targeted approach to develop the region’s strengths to maximise employment, growth and investment.

Bendigo Regional Tourism, through the Destination Management Plan,  has developed a more strategic approach to its tourism development, recognising the strong connections between the regional centre of Bendigo with the surrounding villages and their more boutique offerings.

This proposed hub and spoke model will grow the whole region's tourism industries and subsequently grow tourism jobs right across the region.
