Local climate action leaders and organisations will come together on Wednesday (10/11) to discuss climate action in the Central Goldfields.

Council’s climate action work has been progressing well and is now at the stage where draft priority areas for climate action have emerged through the work of the project consultants - climate science experts NDEVR Environmental - and the Climate Action Collaboration.

Wednesday’s workshop will include expert presentations by NDVER Environmental and interactive engagement activities to facilitate consideration of local climate projections and vulnerabilities of our community and strategies for emissions reduction and adaptation to a changing climate.

Central Goldfields Shire Councillor and Climate Action Collaboration member Liesbeth Long said it has been a wonderful opportunity to be part of a group that is working towards creating positive change within the community.

“This is an exciting milestone to be at the stage where draft priority areas for climate action have emerged.

“This week’s workshop will see us come together with NDEVR Environmental to test the progress of their research in the context of community expectations.

“The outcomes of the workshop will assist in the development of the Central Goldfields Climate Action Plan.”

Maryborough Climate Action Group convenor and Climate Action Collaboration member Tony Macer said he’s feeling really excited about the Climate Action Plan.

“This meeting will help the momentum of the project carry on with purpose and clarity well into the future. “
