Maryborough’s biggest annual event, Energy Breakthrough returns this November for the first time since 2019.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Princes Park will come alive again with more than 5,000 students from over 110 schools around Victoria.

Local tourism, hospitality, accommodation, and retail businesses are set to benefit from an influx of visitors with a crowd of over 20,000 expected to attend the event, providing a much needed/welcomed boost to the region’s economy.

To update the community about the event, and how it will look post pandemic, residents are invited to attend the Energy Breakthrough Local Scoop event.

The information session will also detail engagement opportunities for locals to further support and become involved in the event.

Date: Wednesday 7 September 2022

Central Goldfields Shire Councillor and Energy Breakthrough Committee Chairperson Liesbeth Long said excitement was building for this year’s event.

“Not only is it our first event since 2019 but we’ll also be celebrating 30 years of the event – which is a wonderful milestone that deserves celebration and thanks to our community that make it possible.

“Despite the event not going ahead the past few years – so much has been happening behind the scenes to make this year’s event the biggest and best yet.

“I encourage our community to get behind this year’s event by coming along to our Local Scoop event so that we can share what we have been up to, build excitement and communicate the ways our community can support and be involved.”
