Community grants now open

Central Goldfields Shire Council’s Community Grants Program is now open, offering funds to support local community based organisations for projects and events that provide community benefit to the Shire. $20,000 is available in the 2019-2020 Community Grants program.

Applications for Community Grants close Friday 25 October, 2019. The Community Support Policy and Application Form can be downloaded from Council’s website at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/communitygrants and are available in hard copy from Council’s Customer Service Centre located at 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough.

Following assessment of applications, those recommended for approval will be considered by Council at its December Ordinary Council Meeting.

Walk to School Month

Central Goldfields Shire Council will join VicHealth in its mission to get kids walking, riding and scooting to school as part of the health promotion foundation’s annual Walk to School program.

Every October, Walk to School encourages families to get active on the trip to and from school to help kids build healthy habits for life.

Council will work with local primary schools to deliver a range of activities to support more families to walk, ride or scoot to school this October thanks to $15,000 funding from VicHealth.

Local schools who take part in Walk to School will be in the running to win some fantastic prizes, including a footy clinic at their school hosted by an AFL or AFLW player. For more information visit the Walk to School website on www.walktoschool.vic.gov.au

Planning Scheme Review

The Planning Scheme affects everyone who lives and works in Central Goldfields as it sets out how and where people can develop and use land in the Shire.

Council is required by legislation to regularly review its Planning Scheme. This means reviewing whether the Planning Scheme provisions, such as local planning policies, zones, overlays and schedules have been effective in achieving the objectives and strategies of the planning scheme.  Any proposed improvements to the planning scheme that flow from the review would be carried out as planning scheme amendments separate to the review. Further public consultation will occur on any proposed changes.

We are inviting the community to comment upon the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme.  You can do this by visiting our webpage via this link www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/planningscheme

On the webpage you will find some information about the review and a feedback form.  The community are welcome to return the feedback form at Council’s Customer Service Centre or via email to amyb@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au

We are also hosting a public drop-in session to provide an opportunity for community members to get more information and discuss how to participate in the review process. Please feel welcome to attend at any time during the session.  You don’t need to book.

Where: Maryborough Resource Centre / Library, 91 Nolan Street, Maryborough

When: Wednesday 2 October, 2019 from 4pm - 7pm

For further information about the review, please contact the Strategic Planning unit on 5461 0685.
