It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!
The Spirit of Christmas has arrived in the Central Goldfields.
Our Christmas decorations - including some new additions - have been installed across Maryborough, Dunolly, Carisbrook, Talbot, Majorca and Bealiba.
This year Council has invested a little bit extra into our Christmas display in the hope in brings cheer to our community.
Customer Service and Library closure
Customer Service and Library closure Council’s Customer Service Centre and the Maryborough Library will close at 2pm on Wednesday 15 December to allow staff to attend COVID Training.
It is important for our frontline workers to take part in this training to keep our community safe. Our Customer Service Centre and Library will re-open on Thursday as normal
Council Meeting
A Special Council Meeting will be held this Tuesday, 14 December at 6pm.
The meeting will be held to consider:
- Community Support Grants
- Community Activation Social Isolation Recovery Grants

Due to restrictions, residents will not be able to attend the meeting.

Children and Young People First Partnership Committee
Are you passionate about helping children and young people to live healthy and well?
Parents of children and community members who volunteer or work with young people are encouraged to step up and apply for Council’s new Children and Young People First Partnership Committee.
We are looking for six enthusiastic community representatives to work with young people, Council, and key organisations to assist children and young people to be active, eat healthy, and look after their mental health in Central Goldfields.

Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan
Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback on our Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan.
We had so many great entries for our front cover photo on our Facebook page with Kodie Greenwood’s photo the winner with 52 likes.
Kodie’s furry friend will feature on the front cover of our Domestic Animal Management Plan.
We’ll be reviewing your feedback on the Draft Plan over the coming weeks ready for the final version to be considered by Council at the December meeting.
Fire Danger Period
The CFA have declared that the Fire Danger Period will commence in the Central Goldfields Shire on Monday 13 December.

Fire Prevention Notices
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to prepare their property for the upcoming fire season.
It is so important to maintain your property for the duration of the summer months – to keep both you and the community safe.
Our Municipal Fire Prevention Officer is currently assessing properties across the Shire for fire hazards.
If you receive a Fire Prevention Notice, it will outline necessary works required to improve the safety of your property.

Free green waste disposal
Council is offering free green waste disposal to residents to help prepare their properties for the upcoming fire season.
Residents can drop off their green waste for free at the Carisbrook, Talbot and Dunolly transfer stations every weekend until Sunday 19 December.

Slashing update
Council’s roadside slashing program will be completed today, Friday 10 December.
Is your pool or spa compliant?
Is your pool or spa safety barrier is compliant and safe? If you are unsure you can arrange for our Pool Inspector to inspect your pool for compliance.
Due to the impacts of COVID-19, the deadlines for you to provide your first certificate of barrier compliance to us have been extended.
For pools and spas built:
- ·on or before 30 June 1994 (deadline – 1 June 2022)
- between 1 July 1994 – 30 April 2010 (deadline – 1 June 2023)
- between 1 May 2010 – 31 October 2020 (deadline – 1 June 2024).

Library re-opened in temporary location
The Maryborough Regional Library re-opened this week in their temporary location at the Maryborough Resource Centre Atrium.
The relocation is to make way for the Library renovation project.

New footpaths in Maryborough
Thanks to the Federal Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program three new footpaths are now complete in Maryborough:
• Napier Street from Derby Road to Clark Street - 50 metres
• Hollyrood Street from Gladstone Street to Park Road – 450 metres
• Cross Street from Burke Street to Napier Street – 105 metres
A new footpath is also underway in Goldsmith Street from Kars Street to Inkerman Street – 230 metres and later this month, construction of a new footpath will commence along Park Road from the Golf Course to Gardiner Court - 340 metres.
