DOMAIN PLAYGROUND

The shade sail at the Station Domain playground will be restored on Thursday, 7 March.

The covering was torn from support poles during storm winds and required complete replacement.

Our Operations Team moved quickly during the holiday period to protect community safety, assess the damage and re-open the area for families at the popular facility.

The playground will be closed from 7.30am for the whole day.

OUTDOOR POOL SEASON EXTENDED

The Outdoor Pool Season at Dunolly and Talbot will be extended to Monday 1 April, 2024.

The extended outdoor pool season will mean local residents continue to have access to aquatic facilities during the warmer weather whilst the 25-metre pool at the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre is upgraded.

To make way for the upgrade, the pool hall at the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre will close on Monday, 4 March.

The current pool tiles are almost 25 years old and are at the end of their life. They’ll be replaced, along with the tiles surrounding the pool concourse, so that the pool can be enjoyed for many more years to come.

The project is expected to be complete late May.

BURNS STREET BUILD

Burns Street between Tuaggra and Nolan streets was closed overnight this week, as our crews removed and replaced a section of damaged road.

This follows drainage and footpath upgrades earlier in February near the Tuaggra Street roundabout, to ensure the integrity of the new base and surface.

By commencing at 7pm and ceasing at 7am, there was minimal disruption to daytime traffic and business in the area.

CAT TRAPS

In March our Animal Control Team will commence setting traps to capture feral cats, starting with the Dundas Road area in Maryborough.

To reduce feral colonies, captured cats are checked for microchips, desexing and registration, then returned to owners or placed in the pound for observation. Feral animals can cause disease outbreaks in domestic pet populations, while also impacting native animal populations.

To ensure animal welfare, traps are set in the evening and then checked the following morning. Unregistered animals may attract a fine for owners. Registration renewals are due by 10 April, with notices being sent out from March.
