NEIL’S 40 YEARS OF SERVICE
Neil Greenwood was 24 years old when he started with us, originally working on the Flocon crew repairing potholes.
A few years later he took over street sweeping, keeping paths, parks, gutters and culverts clear of leaves and other materials that could block our drainage network.
This month he clocked up 40 years of service, a huge effort serving our community and helping to keep our open spaces and streetscapes clean and tidy.
Well done Neil!

BATTING FOR SUMMER
Three brand-new turf cricket pitches are under construction at Princes Park which is welcome news for our local cricket community – including the Maryborough Cricket Club.
The project includes the removal of existing pitches, installing sub-surface drainage, upgrading irrigation, and construction of three new turf pitches on the oval.
The $190,000 project is being funded thanks to $50,000 from Council, $100,000 from the State Government and $40,000 from Cricket Australia, with Shay Excavations to deliver the project.
Whilst the Park becomes a camping ground during Energy Breakthrough, the pitches will remain fenced off as they establish following the works.

SEEING THE LIGHT

We’re currently developing a plan for lighting upgrades at major outdoor sporting venues across our Shire.
Thanks to a $70,000 planning grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria, the project will assess detailed structural and technical requirements to ensure lighting meets the Australian standard.
This includes full costings on the lighting itself, its electrical systems, poles and footings, to support applications for further funding.
The project will be completed in 2026 and we’ll keep you updated as it progresses.
COUNCIL MEETING
At the September meeting on Wednesday (24/9) Council adopted our new Local Law, following rigorous consultation with our community. The new law provides a modern framework to maintain community safety, protect public assets, and enhance local amenity across our Shire.
Our General Local Law 2025 will come into effect once published in the Victorian Government Gazette in coming weeks. For further information visit:
