Youth Voice

The Central Goldfields Youth Voice is a group of up to 14 young people from 14 to 23 years old who advocate for and represent the voice of young people across Central Goldfields Shire.

We want you to tell us what you need and want and how we can best improve our services to meet the needs of the youth of the Goldfields Shire -  it’s important that we hear your voice and what you have to say.

You can start by deciding as group what you'd like to be called! Group members have a unique opportunity to help build the skills and connections to grow as young leaders.

Who can apply?

The Youth Council program is open to young people aged 14 - 23, who live, work, study, or play in the Central Goldfields region. This means you don't have to live in Central Goldfields to apply, but you must be involved in the local community.

What is the Youth Council?

The Central Goldfields Youth Voice has three main goals:

  • To provide opportunities and support for young people to develop their skills and confidence to become leaders in their communities.
  • To be a voice for young people in the Central Goldfields community, speaking up to make sure their needs and passions are represented in community decisions.
  • Provide opportunities for young people to have a say in and influence Council policies, plans, and strategies.

The members of a Youth Council in 2022/23 were from different backgrounds, communities, and experiences, and worked hard to create change for local young people.

The Youth Voice is funded by the Victorian Government, through the Engage! program.
