COMMUNITY GRANTS

Dunolly’s Central Goldfields Historic Machinery Society was one of seventeen community groups who received much needed funds from our Community Grants Program 2025-2026.

The Society received $3,000 for electrification of sheds and kitchen areas, improving lighting and enabling members to make better use of their facilities.

The Society holds its annual Goldfields Rally each October, offering a spectacular gathering of vintage machinery, engines, cars and trucks – most of them fully functioning.

The popular event attracts visitors from across Australia to the Dunolly Racetrack, with many camping over the weekend and bringing an economic boost to local businesses.

ROAD GRADING

Our Roads and Works Grading crew operate all through the year, improving the surface on our gravel roads and the edges of our asphalt roads.

Progress is swifter in wetter months, but roadside grading continues during suitable weather over summer, with the support of water tankers. The crew also works at sporting grounds and is kept on standby during fire danger periods to provide support for firefighting.

Completed recently are Palmer Road, Arcadia Court and Dooleys Road at Simson, just north of Maryborough.

AERODROME GROUP

Do you have high-flying ideas about how to help the Maryborough Aerodrome take off?

We’re inviting expressions of interest from community members to serve on the Aerodrome Advisory Group.

The group will provide expert advice and guidance to Council on matters related to the management, development, operation and maintenance of the Maryborough Aerodrome.

FLOOD MEET

The third Carisbrook Flood Planning Study meeting was held on Tuesday with good attendance from local residents. Also present were the Deputy Mayor Cr Anna de Villiers, Cr Geoff Bartlett, CFA, SES, North Central Catchment Management Authority and Council staff, including CEO Peter Harriott.

Members of the community provided further feedback on minor gaps in the new modelling. Consultants Watertech will use this advice to further refine models and then test various mitigation measures discussed at the meeting.
