Enthusiasm continues for second term.

I love winter! It is the best time to snuggle up with some interesting reading material and do some reflection. This is my second term as the Tullaroop Ward Councillor and I am loving every moment representing my community at Council.

The first eight months of my second term were hectic. I was reeling off a list of accomplishments recently and thought how in isolation they don’t seem much but are quite amazing when added together.

I kept a cutting from the Carisbrook Mercury, published on February 3, 2022. This article listed items on my to-do list for 2022. The items on the list were the following:

  • sealing of the top end of Moolort Road - ongoing
  • a bus service to Carisbrook from Maryborough – ongoing
  • Majorca Avenue of Honor – completed
  • The Op Shop building in Market Reserve – it has been painted, but re-stumping still needs to be done
  • Community garden in Carisbrook – ongoing

As I stated at the end of the article, “No doubt this list will grow,” and indeed it has!

Adding to this list:

  • Levees and drains in Carisbrook – ongoing advocacy
  • Activating the Tullaroop Creek Advisory Committee - underway
  • Restoration of the Carisbrook Railway Station – pending a feasibility study and a lease between Council and VicTrack
  • Restoration of the Carisbrook Town Hall – new project for 2025 -2028
  • Further development of the Market Reserve as a partnership between Council and the Carisbrook Lions Club - ongoing
  • Developing a new Community Plan for Carisbrook – ongoing

The main challenge we are facing is the funding required to complete these projects.

Probably my biggest achievement since being on Council has been my engagement with community groups and volunteers. We volunteer for a reason and that is love and passion, usually for a specific project.
