Today we farewell our longest-serving employee!

Congratulations to Russell Le Tisser on an incredible 48 years of service to the Central Goldfields community.

Russell began his journey with us in 1978 at the age of 16, taking on the role of Apprentice Gardener with the City of Maryborough.

Since then, he has dedicated his entire career to the Parks and Open Spaces team, earning a well-deserved reputation as the oracle of Council’s open spaces.

Over the decades, Russell has contributed to the development and maintenance of almost every open space under Council’s care.

His knowledge of our parks, gardens, and landscapes is unmatched. He has weathered floods, fires, and droughts, mastered the inner workings of every irrigation system, and supported countless Council events behind the scenes.

Today, we revisited the tree planted in his name at Phillips Gardens to mark his 45th anniversary — a lasting tribute to his service.

Thank you, Russell, for your dedication, expertise, and friendship. Enjoy your well-earned retirement!
