Our Resale Shops recycle quality items which were destined to become landfill.
Items are intercepted and diverted to be reused as saleable products in our resale shops.

Central Goldfields Shire Council operates four transfer stations - Carisbrook, Talbot, Dunolly and Bealiba.
Council’s Transfer Stations are for the deposit of waste, recycling, green waste and recoverable materials.
Waste that can’t be reused or recycled is transferred from these transfer stations to the Patho landfill at Echuca.
The transfer stations are available for deposit of domestic quantities of waste materials only.

This means the Transfer Stations are unable to take commercial quantities of waste e.g. builders rubble, as it is transported to another site.
Waste loads are limited to trucks/trailers of less than three cubic metres in volume.
To help us recycle, please load your trailer to allow separation of green waste and recyclables from other waste. Recyclable materials can be deposited free of charge.
Our policy is to recycle all we can, to reduce what is sent to landfill.
Remember to cover and secure your load.
All Central Goldfields Shire Transfer Stations have material recovery capabilities. Customers can purchase deposited items that are reusable and the Carisbrook Transfer Station has a resale shop displaying all items for sale.
Our four Transfer Stations are supervised during the hours of operation to separate recyclables, collect fees and waste vouchers, and for site management. All customers are required to follow the directions of our attendants.
Sites close on Catastrophic and Extreme Fire danger days, and site operations may be impacted during severe weather events, including extreme fire danger ratings and damaging wind warnings.

Carisbrook Transfer Station - 125 Williams Road, Carisbrook (via Potts Lane)
- Weekdays – Monday, Tuesday, and Friday: 10am to 4.30pm
- Weekends – Saturday and Sunday: 10am to 4pm
Talbot Transfer Station - 41 Rocky Flat Road, Talbot
- Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday: 9am to 1pm
- Daylight savings hours are: 8am to 12pm
Dunolly Transfer Station - 1656 Maryborough Dunolly Road Dunolly
- Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday: 9am to 1pm
- Daylight savings hours are: 8am to 12pm
Bealiba Transfer Station* - 48 White Hills Road Bealiba
- Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday: 9am to 1pm
- Daylight savings hours are: 8am to 12pm
* Please note there are no green waste disposal facilities at the Bealiba Transfer Station.
All stations are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day.
Central Goldfields Shire residents can use the waste vouchers provided with their rate notice to dispose of general waste, green waste or hard rubbish at the transfer stations:
Car boot or equivalent load - 1 voucher*
Other loads - 2 vouchers* per cubic metre
*Vouchers are issued with Rates Notices each year and are valid for 12 months. Vouchers are valid until 31 August the following year.
Recoverable hard waste is accepted for free at the transfer stations and sold in our resale shops. Items are assessed by Transfer Station attendants for suitability for resale.

The increases reflect the rising cost of waste disposal, including increases in the State Government's landfill levy, landfill gate fees and transport costs.
These fees will apply for the 2026–27 financial year.
Why are fees increasing?
The cost of disposing of waste has increased significantly in recent years.
Key drivers include:
- Increased landfill levy charges
- Higher landfill disposal (gate) fees
- Rising transport and haulage costs
- Increasing environmental and regulatory requirements
These costs continue to rise across the waste industry and directly impact the cost of managing waste for our community.
The fee changes represent a gradual shift from a heavily subsidised model towards a user-pays approach. Gate fees will increasingly cover the direct costs of landfill disposal and transport, while the broader transfer station network will continue to be funded through the Waste Management Charge.
How are transfer stations funded?
Transfer stations are funded through a combination of:
Waste Management Charge
The annual Waste Management Charge helps fund:
- Transfer station operations
- Site maintenance and infrastructure
- Environmental and regulatory compliance
- Resource recovery services
- Planning and management of the waste network
Transfer Station Gate Fees
Gate fees help cover the direct costs of:
- Transporting waste
- Landfill disposal charges
- Landfill levy costs
Historically, many of these disposal costs have been subsidised through the Waste Management Charge.
The revised fees represent a gradual move towards a fairer user-pays approach, with gate fees increasingly covering the actual costs of landfill disposal and transport, while the broader transfer station network continues to be funded through the Waste Management Charge.

They are responsible for providing a safe, efficient and compliant service for the community and should be treated with courtesy and respect.
