Engage Youth Hub

The Engage Youth Hub has reopened in Maryborough offering a safe, creative and welcoming space for young people aged 13–23 to connect, learn, access support and build community.

Located right next to Council’s main offices at 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough, the Hub has been designed with young people, for young people.

The Engage Youth Hub offers:

  • Weekly drop‑ins — starting with Wednesday sessions from 1–5pm, supported by Council staff, trained volunteers and community partners.
  • Creative and social activities — board games, art supplies, music, cooking, and (soon) a recording studio and video games.
  • Pathways and wellbeing — programs in wellbeing, cooking, creative arts, digital literacy, job readiness and community connection.
  • Safe, inclusive space — welcoming First Nations young people, LGBTIQA+ youth, young people with disability, those from low‑income backgrounds, BIPOC youth, and anyone seeking connection.
  • Youth engagement focus — embedding youth voice through a Youth Advisory Committee and co‑design processes.
  • Future support services — exploring partnerships to provide direct access to mental health, holistic wellbeing, and drug and alcohol harm‑reduction support.

Mayor Cr Ben Green said young people deserve spaces where they feel safe, respected and excited to show up — and that’s exactly what Engage Youth Hub is all about.

“We’re proud to offer a space that celebrates creativity, connection and youth voice, and we can’t wait to see the ideas and energy young people bring to it.”

Youth Officer Kyan Laslett O’Brien said the Engage Youth Hub is here for the young people who don’t always see themselves reflected in sports or mainstream school life.

“We want to give them somewhere to go that feels safe and welcoming, something fun and creative to do, a space they can truly call their own, and someone to talk to who genuinely listens.

“This is their place — and we’re excited to see it grow with them.”
