The Carisbrook community is set to come together for an afternoon of connection, entertainment and family-friendly activities when it hosts a family fun day and the Central Goldfields Emergency Preparation Expo on Sunday 3 May.

Everyone is invited to the free event to be held from 1 to 5pm at the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.

The vibrant program includes food vans, face painting, novelty events, a rock-climbing wall and live music.

Families can also enjoy train rides hosted by the Carisbrook Lions Club and sweet treats from Cold Rock Ice Cream.

The Carisbrook Lions Club will also provide a free sausage sizzle.

A women’s football match and social bowls will also be held as part of the festivities.

A highlight of the day will be the Central Goldfields Emergency Preparation Expo.

The expo will help Central Goldfields Shire residents prepare for emergencies and disasters, such as fire, flood and storm.

The expo will allow people to:

  • learn how to prepare their family, property and pets for an emergency;
  • get help to complete an emergency preparation plan;
  • meet local emergency services; and
  • find out what key agencies – CFA, SES, Victoria Police, Red Cross and others do in an emergency.
  • Children will also get to see emergency services vehicles up close!

Plus, attendees will go in the running to win a high value emergency preparation kit

Carisbrook’s Resilience Plan will also be launched as part of the Expo.

The Connected Carisbrook group, which is working with the Resilience Canopy to prepare Carisbrook’s Resilience Plan, is helping organise the event.

Draft copies of the plan will be available for people to view and provide feedback.

The event is open to everyone and is free to attend. Gold coin donations to local CFA, SES and other emergency services welcome.

The 2026 Central Goldfields Emergency Preparation Expo is hosted by Central Goldfields Shire Council in partnership with Emergency Recovery Victoria and Connected Carisbrook.
