Strategic Planning is the process to develop land use planning strategies and policies for inclusion in the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme.
Through good strategic planning, Council ensures we have a consistent and planned approach towards new housing developments, commercial and retail developments, preservation of our heritage, and identifying land that is subject to environmental risks such as bushfires and floods, and to protect special areas of our natural environment.
Through processes set out by the Planning and Environment Act 1987 (Vic), Strategic Planning may also involve maintaining and updating the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme.
