COMMUNITY MURAL

If you're passing through the Maryborough CBD, stop by Drakes Walk opposite IGA and check out the vibrant new community mural created during our school holiday youth program.

Working alongside Grand Trine Creative artists Axle and Nellie, local young people helped bring this large-scale artwork to life, learning new skills, sharing ideas and transforming the space into something bright, colourful and welcoming.

A big thank you to everyone who picked up a paintbrush, and to James from Primes - Paint Right for generously providing the wall.

CARISBROOK FLOOD SESSION 5

The Carisbrook Flood Study Advisory Reference Group is hosting a community session on Monday 19 October from 3pm to 6pm at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.

Community Session 5 will provide an update on the project and present further detail on the modelling of proposed mitigation options and their potential impact on flood risk.

This will be the final community session for the Carisbrook Flood Study, providing an opportunity for community members to hear about the project's outcomes and ask questions before the study is finalised.

A presentation will be held at 3pm, followed by questions and community feedback.

For further information, including details of the project and previous community sessions, visit www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/carisbrookfloodplanning

GET CREATIVE!

Get creative and start planning your entry for the 2026 Community Arts Exhibition.

Inspired by Evie Meikle’s theme, In My Mother’s Cupboard, artists are invited to explore memories, family stories, treasured belongings, cultural connections and forgotten objects. We encourage participants to embrace the cardboard box challenge, or submit a traditional artwork inspired by the theme.

Entry deadline and artwork delivery dates: 12-15 November 2026.

To find out more or to access an entry form visit www.centralgoldfieldsartgallery.com.au or pick up a hard copy from the Gallery, Maryborough Craft Shop or our Customer Service Centre.

Through years of volunteering, leadership and service, Harriet has supported local organisations, mentored young people and inspired others through her dedication and compassion.

Do you know a young person who deserves recognition? Nominate them for the Central Goldfields Shire 2027 Community Awards.

TRANSFER STATION CHANGES

Our transfer stations at Talbot, Dunolly and Bealiba have new hours for daylight savings.

They are now open 8am to 12noon (instead of 9am to 1pm).

There is no change to the opening hours at Carisbrook.

Transfer station fees are also increasing from Friday 23 October. The increases reflect the rising cost of waste disposal, increases in the State Government's landfill levy and rising transport costs. These costs will apply for the 2026-2027 financial year.
