MARYBOROUGH OUTDOOR POOL
The available funding is insufficient to deliver the entire pool project, and Council has been advocating for additional government support to address the shortfall.
Construction costs have been rising above the inflation rate across all of Australia.
Council is continuing to work closely with funding partners to finalise the project scope to deliver the best-possible outcome for the Maryborough Outdoor Pool Complex and the broader community.
The current funding arrangements are tied to specific outcomes related to disability changerooms, the Learn to Swim pool, and associated plant and equipment upgrades.
In 2025, a funding shortfall of at least $5 million was identified to fully reopen the outdoor pool complex, including the 50m pool, and this may require further review given the time that has now elapsed.
Council and funding partners are working through the available options to ensure the project scope aligns with the funding that has been secured.
Council acknowledges community frustration with the situation; however, it is important that any project of this scale proceeds with a fully funded and agreed pathway.
ROADSIDE SLASHING PROGRAM
Council's annual roadside slashing program will commence from 23 November and is expected to take around 10 to 14 days to complete.
The program covers 327 kilometres of sealed roads and 319 kilometres of unsealed road.
With around 95 per cent of roadside slashing undertaken for road safety purposes, the works improve sight lines and help provide a safer area for motorists to pull off the road when needed.
Slashing also supports fire prevention efforts.
Council will continue to monitor conditions and work closely with the CFA to ensure slashing activities are undertaken at an appropriate time and with fire risk considerations in mind.
