WATER FOR THE GOLDFIELDS RESERVOIR
We’re pleased to share that Central Highlands Water is providing surplus water to the Goldfields Reservoir.
The water is being delivered under a Memorandum of Understanding between Council and Central Highlands Water that enables water to be diverted to this important community asset whenever the Evansford Reservoir exceeds capacity.
Water began flowing last week at a rate of 1–3 megalitres per day and receiving this additional water at no cost is a fantastic outcome for our community.
A huge thank you to the Goldfields Reservoir Action Group for their ongoing advocacy, passion and support.
ACTIVE LIVING CENSUS – THANK YOU
A big thank you to the 643 local residents who took the time to participate in the Victorian Government’s Healthy Loddon Campaspe Active Living Census last year.
The Census collected detailed information about residents’ health, wellbeing and daily activities, helping to build a stronger understanding of our community and wider region.
We are happy to share that in the Central Goldfields our key strengths are:
- Higher physical activity than Victorian benchmarks
- Lower smoking and vaping rates compared with statewide averages

MATTER OF FACTS WORKSHOP
Inspired by the ABC’s docuseries The Matter of Facts, the ABC and the Australian Libraries and Information Association are teaming up to deliver free, hands‑on workshops designed to help communities spot false information with confidence.
The FREE Matter of Facts Workshop will be held on Thursday 30 July at 1pm at the Maryborough Library.
Come along to this interactive and practical workshop to learn how misinformation spreads, how to recognise it, and how to navigate today’s fast‑moving digital world with clarity.
All welcome, registrations encouraged. Visit the Library, call 5461 9111 or email mrl@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au
PUBLIC LIGHTING STRATEGY
Community feedback has shaped Council’s new Public Lighting Strategy, giving us a clearer, fairer and more consistent way to improve street lighting across our towns.
Residents told us lighting strongly affects how safe they feel at night, with many avoiding poorly lit areas.
The Strategy sets a practical and transparent approach to upgrades, guided by community priorities and long‑term funding.
Council thanks everyone who shared their views and will keep working toward better lighting as resources allow.
