BOOK WEEK

The bats may have left Phillips Gardens, but now the penguins are moving in!
For Book Week 2025, our Library staff dressed as characters from popular children’s titles.
Maree dressed as Neville from ‘Neville’s Great Escape’ by Sean E Avery, the book currently circling the Gardens as a Story Walk.
Children were entertained by staff throughout the week at storytime and craft sessions in Maryborough and Dunolly libraries.
FLOOD WORKS COMPLETION

The October 2022 floods caused $9.8 million damage to infrastructure and property throughout our municipality.
Whilst most repairs have been carried out, the Victorian Government recently approved the sixth and final stage of our flood recovery upgrade program.
The next stage of upgrades, due for completion by late October, include construction of floodways, removal of flood debris, road rehabilitation and drainage structure erosion repairs.
Works will be carried out at various locations across our Shire.
For more information, including a full list of locations scheduled for upgrades, visit: www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/floodrecoveryworks

SAFETY UPGRADES
Our Roads and Works team have completed safety upgrades at several corners along Napier, Burke and Hilton streets and on Alma Road.
The works are part of the TAC Safe Roads and Streets Program.

The next upgrade is a section of Kars Street between Clarendon and Alma, starting Monday 25 August.
Our team is expected to complete Kars Street within the week, while traffic is restricted to local access. Traffic controllers will assist with smooth flow along busy High Street.
