FLOOD DAMAGE AND ROAD CLOSURES

Two significant rainfall events in August have caused significant damage.

Our Roads and Works crew are aware of the extensive damage across our road network and will work through a prioritised recovery process to address these issues.

Our crews will continue to monitor road conditions and adjust road closure signage as required.

Please drive carefully to the conditions and watch for debris or hazards on the road network.

MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH SERVICES

Our Maternal and Child Health service is much loved by local families, supporting children from birth to school age at the Goldfields Children’s Centre. Our nurses guide families through early parenting with advice on development, growth, nutrition and wellbeing.

In the last financial year, our community welcomed 88 babies, with 32 first‑time mums connecting with our MCH team. We delivered 996 Key Age & Stage consultations, and 511 children attended the service at least once — a snapshot of just how valued this support is across our shire.

BOOK WEEK AT THE LIBRARIES

Our Library Service is thriving - more visits, more borrowing and record participation across all ages.

With Book Week next week, it’s the perfect time to join in.

Storytime & craft sessions: Maryborough Library: 10am on Tuesday 25 August, Wednesday 26 August, Friday 28 August and Dunolly Library: 10.30am on Tuesday 25 August.

Plus, the beloved Stuffed Animal Sleepover returns Friday 28 August for ages 3–12.

ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH — EOI now open

Energy Breakthrough returns 18–22 November, bringing more than 17,000 students, teachers and parents to Maryborough — the biggest weekend on our local calendar.

Community groups play an important role in delivering the event with set up, waste management and catering to help feed thousands across the weekend.

We’re now calling on expressions of interest for:

• Community Group Services EOI — track setup, bin fairies, marshalling, site support and more (closes 4 September)
• Community Group Catering EOI — help feed thousands of participants across the even (closes 11 September)

Both EOIs offer valuable fundraising opportunities for local clubs and groups.

AUGUST COUNCIL MEETING

The August Council Meeting will be held next Wednesday 26 August at 6pm.

The meeting will be held in the upstairs Council Chamber at the Maryborough Town Hall on the corner of Clarendon and Neill streets.

GALLERY EXHIBITION OPENING

Maryborough artist Robert Liston unveils a delightful new exhibition showcasing imaginative robot characters and whimsical fish sculptures, all cleverly crafted from recycled materials.

The opening of From the Fish Shop and Beyond – Sculptures by Robert Liston will take place at 2pm on Saturday 22 August 2026 at Central Goldfields Art Gallery in Maryborough, with everyone warmly invited to attend.

The exhibition will remain on display at Central Goldfields Art Gallery until 8 November 2026.
