PHILLIPS GARDENS VISITORS

bats.phillips-Gardens.jpg

The bats are back at Phillips Gardens!

State Government wildlife staff visited the site recently, estimating around 150 flying foxes had returned to the gardens.

They advised the native species is returning to known roosts due to declining food supply in the wild.

We'll continue to monitor their activity and to date, there's been no damage to the gardens. Wildlife experts will return to check on them again in the new year.

As a native species, flying foxes are protected by Victorian law and should be left alone.

SLASHING UNDERWAY

Our roadside slashing program is now underway, following advice from CFA and Forest Fire Management Victoria. Please keep an eye out for machinery and fire prevention/support vehicles carrying out the works, currently operating around the Talbot area.

We’ll provide mapping updates as work progresses.

The progress map shows:

  • GREEN areas – completed
  • YELLOW areas – to be slashed 3 metres either side
  • BLUE areas – to be slashed from fence line to fence line.
