EVENTFUL CAREER

When Alisha was at secondary school in Maryborough, she helped the Energy Breakthrough effort by making banners for the big event on the school’s sewing machines.
Later in her career she started as a junior in Council’s Promotions and Marketing team, an evolving role eventually leading her into events – the biggest of which was of course, Energy Breakthrough.
Now Alisha’s clocked up 25 years of service to her community, and to complete the circle she now works in the same building where she stitched together those banners back at her school, whose buildings later became Council offices.
Congratulations on achieving this milestone, and for contributing so much for so many residents and visitors to Central Goldfields, Alisha!
PETS PLAN

We’re inviting the community to help shape how dogs and cats are managed in our Shire.
It’s part of a State Government requirement to review our Domestic Animal Management Plan every four years.
We’ll be taking our Plan for a walk next week, so come and talk with us or ask questions at our pop-ups:
- Sunday 17 August (10am to 1pm): Talbot Farmers Market
- Monday 18 August (2pm to 4pm), Tuesday 19 August (10am to noon), Thursday 21 August (3.30pm to 5pm): Goldfields Shopping Centre, Maryborough
- Friday 22 August from 10am to 1pm: Dunolly Bakery

TREE PLANTING

Now the days are getting longer, it's time to plant new trees around our Shire.
Our Operations Team has stocked up for the job which will continue over coming weeks - in between weeding and prepping ovals for coming football finals.
In February we asked residents where they’d like new trees planted and offered a list of species to choose from. Over 100 new trees will be planted this season, with follow up care for the next few years until they are established.
GYM CONSTRUCTION
Our Facilities and Maintenance team have started rebuilding interior walls in the Nolan Street Gymnasium.
Following a serious termite infestation, some interior walls needed complete removal and replacement. The sections needed treatment to prevent further infestation, then a waiting period before reassessment for termite activity.
The main structure of the gym is steel and was unaffected. The gym is expected to reopen in September.
