FLOOD DAMAGE AND ROAD CLOSURES
Heavy rainfall earlier this week has caused extensive road closures and damage across our Shire.
Now that the water is receding, our Roads and Works crews are inspecting and assessing the full extent of the damage and continuing clean‑up and repairs. This work may take a number of weeks.
Please drive carefully to the conditions and watch for debris or hazards on the road network.

DUNOLLY – IT’S HAPPENING
It was a great day in Dunolly last Saturday, 8 August, as the first sod for the new pavilion was officially turned — a milestone achieved after more than two decades of community advocacy.
The new pavilion at Deledio Recreation Reserve will feature modern, inclusive and accessible change rooms, amenities, undercover social and viewing areas, first aid facilities, sustainable design elements, including rainwater harvesting and solar power.
Kitchen and community hospitality facilities will also be included in the project – but further funding will be sought to deliver the fit-out of these areas. The Dunolly Recreation Reserve user groups are currently fundraising for this element of the project.
The project is scheduled for completion early 2027.
The project is jointly funded, with $1.5 million from the Federal Government, $1 million from the Victorian Government’s Regional Community Sports and Infrastructure Program, and a further $500,000 contribution from Council.

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS
Happy birthday, Central Goldfields Art Gallery! This year marks 30 years since the Gallery first opened its doors in 1996.
For three decades, the Gallery has been a place to discover art, be inspired, meet friends and come together to celebrate. It has grown into a contemporary, award‑winning cultural space for our community and for visitors across the region.
Located at 1 Neill Street, Maryborough, the Gallery is open 10am–4pm, Thursday to Sunday, and entry is free.
MOMENTUM BUILDS FOR ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH
For the first time since the pandemic, multiple categories in the Honda-backed Energy Breakthrough have officially SOLD OUT – a fantastic sign that schools are embracing hands-on STEM learning once again.
Sold out categories include: Human Powered Vehicle (Primary & Secondary), Energy Efficient Vehicles and TRYathlon (Primary & Secondary).
This incredible response shows the enthusiasm of students, teachers and school communities as they prepare for the biggest week of innovation, engineering and endurance.
Limited places remain in Pushcarts (Primary) and Robotics.
Energy Breakthrough will be held in Maryborough from 18–22 November, 2026.
As always there will be plenty of opportunities for community members to be involved – including opportunities for volunteers to support the smooth running of the event.
