Water flows into Goldfields Reservoir

Central Goldfields Shire Council is delighted to receive surplus water from Central Highlands Water for the Goldfields Reservoir.
This water is greatly appreciated and will be provided as part of an MOU with Central Highlands Water to divert water to this important community asset when the Evansford Reservoir exceeds capacity.
Water began flowing on Monday at the rate of 1-3 megalitres per day as part of this agreement with Central Highlands Water, and the supply of this additional water at no cost is a great outcome.
The Goldfields Reservoir is a peaceful recreational lake on the outskirts of Maryborough which features a picnic area, nature playground, and a scenic walking track. Mostly dry for some time due to drought conditions, it's popular for swimming, fishing, picnicking and bushwalking.
Council thanks the Goldfield Reservoir Action Group (GRAG) for their ongoing passion, advocacy and support, and we'll be working with community groups to further enhance the amenity of the area.
The walking track circles the entire reservoir, and is about a 1.7km easy, pram-friendly, scenic walk.
The track features multiple bridges, interesting hand-made wooden barriers, wetland areas and water views.
Old gold diggings line the tracks around the far end of the reservoir, and people are advised to stick to the path.
