HONK! Untitled Goose Exhibition launch

A free, fun, hands-on exhibition for all ages about the popular videogame
Untitled Goose Game
Enter a world of comedy, chaos and calamity in Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition, an exhibition that dives into the making of global-hit videogame Untitled Goose Game.
A game of stealth and slapstick about a naughty goose on the loose in an unsuspecting village, Untitled Goose Game was created by Victorian developers House House and released in 2019 to worldwide acclaim. Critics applauded its gameplay and comedy, awarding it D.I.C.E. Game of the Year and BAFTA Games Award for Best Family and Social Game in 2020.
This interactive exhibition offers new insight into the creative development of this viral game sensation, through displays of previously unseen concept art, sketches and design material. These are presented alongside playable versions of the game from its early development, exhibited publicly for the first time. Appealing to both videogame experts and the uninitiated, Honk! offers insights into the game’s hilariously mischievous humour and development, and its referencing of slapstick history and comedic stylings back through a century of film and television.
An ACMI touring exhibition.
Quote from Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Ben Green
“This terrific exhibition is special in how it engages everyone in the family. It also celebrates our highly successful videogame industry here in Victoria, peeling back the layers and revealing fascinating insights into its production process.
“This is another example of the versatility of Central Goldfields Art Gallery, and we greatly appreciate the quality of HONK!, with sincere thanks to ACMI for bringing it to our Shire.”
Quote from Seb Chan, Director & CEO, ACMI
“As a museum of screen culture, videogames are at the heart of what we do. Since ACMI’s inception we’ve been collecting and exhibiting games and bolstering their local creation. Untitled Goose Game is one of Melbourne’s most recognisable – and biggest selling - videogame exports of the past decade. We’ve been involved from playtesting its early development in the ACMI + RMIT Audience Lab, to presenting a series of live scored events in partnership with Orchestra Victoria. We’re honoured to give the goose the exhibition it deserves, revealing to audiences how it was made, and the wider cultural context it has come from. Hold onto your hats – let the fun and games begin!”
Quote from Curator Jini Maxwell
“It was an utter joy working with House House to develop Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition, a celebration of their internationally beloved, locally made videogame, Untitled Goose Game. This exhibition celebrates the breadth of Untitled Goose Game’s creative influences, ranging to Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo to slapstick comedy. Videogames are the most popular entertainment medium on the planet today – but how they are actually made is often shrouded in mystery. I am so grateful to House House for the rare access into their creative process. I am thrilled to invite visitors to play, honk and explore the artistic process behind such a beloved title.”
Free family launch celebration: 12noon Sunday 1 March 2026. HONK! Untitled Goose Exhibition is free to visit and will be on display at Central Goldfields Art Gallery from 28 February to 14 June 2026.
