Central Goldfields Shire’s newest citizens were officially welcomed at a Citizenship Ceremony on Wednesday 29 July.
The thirteen conferees from Philippines, New Zealand, Kenya, England, Belarus, Sri Lanka and Canada formally pledged their commitment to Australia at the Maryborough Community Hub.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Ben Green said he was honoured to officiate the Citizenship Ceremony.
“Citizenship ceremonies are a wonderful moment for our community. They bring us together to welcome those who have chosen Australia - and Central Goldfields - as the place they want to call home.
“We congratulate our newest citizens and thank them for the commitment they’ve made to Australia and the values we uphold.”
Central Goldfields Shire Council administers Citizenship Ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Ceremonies are usually held twice a year.
Attending a Citizenship Ceremony is the final step in the journey to become an Australian citizen and receiving a Certificate of Australian Citizenship. The ceremony fulfils the requirements under Australian citizenship law and provides an opportunity for Council to officially welcome its new citizens.
