Eight community members have been appointed to the Maryborough Aerodrome Advisory Group for the 2026 - 2029 term, following a public Expression of Interest process.

Council approved the appointment of the following members: Ian Carfrae, Rod Brown, John Kidon, Gregory Thomas Corcoran, Anthony Ohlsen, Melanie Waddell, Cameron Bird and Benjamin Morgan.

Together, the group brings expertise across aviation training, aerodrome‑related businesses, emergency management, aerodrome safety and other key areas that will support the strategic direction set out in the Aerodrome Business Case.

The Advisory Group will provide expert advice to Council on the management, development, operation and maintenance of the Maryborough Aerodrome.

New Terms of Reference were adopted in December to strengthen governance arrangements and extend member terms from two to three years, supporting continuity across longer‑term projects.

While the Terms of Reference specify five community members, Council has endorsed the appointment of all eight applicants to strengthen representation, increase advisory capacity and ensure a balanced mix of tenant, user and industry perspectives.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Ben Green said the appointments reflect Council’s commitment to strengthening the aerodrome’s future.

“We’re fortunate to have such a strong field of applicants willing to contribute their time, knowledge and industry experience.

“Appointing all eight members ensures we have a broad and balanced group that can provide well‑rounded advice as we plan for the aerodrome’s long‑term future.

“The aerodrome is an important community asset, and having a diverse Advisory Group helps us make informed decisions that support safety, growth and future opportunities for the region.”
