REMINDER to all local artists: Get your Upcycled entries in!

Entries for our popular Central Goldfields Art Gallery Community Arts Exhibition 2025 are due next week. Works can be delivered to the Gallery between 10am and 4pm from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 November.

Artists are being encouraged to have an upcycled/recycled element or theme to their work.

Local artists at ASTERIA have completed their collaborative work, The World We Live In ready for delivery to the Gallery, with support from local artist Tiffany Titshall over six workshops.

Their project also provided participants with a meaningful cultural experience, including a visit to Arts Project Australia in Melbourne, where they could see the potential of sharing and exhibiting their own artwork close to home.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Councillor Grace La Vella said the Community Arts – Upcycled exhibition was a fantastic way to build connections in the community.

“This exhibition gives the whole community an opportunity to display their creativity at the Gallery, generating an exchange of artistic and cultural ideas.”

“It’s fascinating to see recycled materials in a new light, and how our artists interpret those objects.”

Artist Tiffany Titshall said the participants at ASTERIA developed confidence as they worked together to create their piece.

“Each participant was encouraged to work in a way that suited their abilities and interests, ensuring everyone’s contribution was valued and visible.”

“From the outset, the artists focused on principles of reuse and recycling, avoiding new materials wherever possible.”

“The finished work of sculptures and collage celebrates native animals and plants, raising awareness about caring for country and the ecosystems around us.”

Entrants from Central Goldfields and Avoca are in the running for one of the many prizes on offer:

  • $200 Healthy Environments prize (non-acquisitive) with the opportunity to have your artwork displayed at Council for up to 12 months.
