A welcoming space for children to grow with confidence

Local families are invited to experience quality, nurturing early‑years environment at the Goldfields Children’s Centre Open Day on Saturday 23 May, from 10am to 12 noon.
The Open Day aligns with the upcoming Centralised Kindergarten Registration process opening in June, helping families explore options available to select a local kinder program that meets their needs.
The Open Day gives families the chance to explore the Centre’s indoor and outdoor facilities, learn about early education and care programs for younger children, meet the teachers, ask questions about the three‑ and four‑year‑old kindergarten programs, find out about session days and times, and enjoy family‑friendly activities.
Goldfields Children’s Centre offers a quality kinder program led by qualified early childhood teachers who believe children learn best through play. They are focussed on supporting children’s social and emotional development, physical skills, language, and communication.
Importantly, our kinder program is integrated with our daycare learning environment extending beyond kinder hours to provide flexibility for families needing care. It also includes nutritious and delicious meals, and opportunities for kinder children to be involved with cooking and food preparation.
Central Goldfields Shire Deputy Mayor, Cr Anna de Villiers, said kindergarten plays a vital role in supporting children’s development and preparing them for school and life.
“Kinder helps build social skills, confidence, resilience and a strong foundation for future learning. We are proud to offer families access to quality kindergarten programs that support children to thrive.
“In 2027 kindergartens across Central Goldfields Shire are offering increased hours of Victorian government funded 4-year-old kinder of up to 20 hours. This is great news for children and families in our local area.
“‘The Council‑run Goldfields Children’s Centre offers a stable and caring environment where children are supported to learn, play and thrive.”
Central Goldfields Shire Manager Children and Families, Carolyn Bartholomeusz, said with the kindergarten registration period open from Monday 1 June to Friday 26 June, now is the time for families to explore which kindergarten is the best fit for their child.
“The Goldfields Children’s Centre Open Day is a great opportunity for families to connect with educators and explore the Centre’s high‑quality early learning and kindergarten programs and the dedicated team behind them.
“Families will be able to see the caring, supportive environment we provide and learn how our programs help children build confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.
“Goldfields Children’s Centre offers families a high‑quality kindergarten program with the added support of care beyond the kinder hours for families who require additional hours for care.”
Families in the Central Goldfields Shire can use one registration form to apply for any of the seven kindergartens across the Shire.
