ELECTON UPDATE
Voting in the 2024 Council Election closes tonight, 25 October at 6pm. Completed ballot packs must be posted or delivered to the Central Goldfields Shire Election Office.
If you have not received your ballot pack, visit the office at 53 Burns Street, Maryborough (the former Visitor Centre, opposite the Maryborough Railway Station).
Please note, voters enrolled in Maryborough West and Tullaroop wards will not get a ballot pack in the mail. This is as there is only one nominee in each of these wards and as they are uncontested, no vote is required. Voting is compulsory for all other wards.
Our new Council will be declared by the Victorian Electoral Commission on Friday 8 November. The first Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 19 November to appoint our Mayor.

SKATEBOARD BOOST
In partnership with Healthy Loddon Campaspe, this week we published a set of skateboarding videos to help support those who’d like to give the sport a try.
These provide an overview of the Maryborough Skate and Scooter Park’s features, use of safety equipment, an outline of the basic skills needed to get rolling and a few tips and tricks.
In coming weeks there will be signage installed at the park with QR codes linking directly to the videos. To watch visit:

UNWEAVING ART
Join Dr. Flossie Peitsch this Sunday 27 October at Central Goldfields Art Gallery as she unpicks the challenges specific to being a fibre-based artist today. Interact with her as she highlights the process of tapestry weaving including inspiration, tools required, process and outcomes.
Flossie’s exhibition Fearless, with over 50 tapestries currently on display is open until 17 November.
Her talk commences at 2pm and is free, with all welcome to attend.
JOIN IN THE FUN!
Can you spare a day, or even a few hours between Tuesday, 19 November and Sunday, 24 November?
Volunteering at Energy Breakthrough is a fantastic way of making a valuable contribution and real difference in our community. The volunteer team is proudly supported by Community Bank Avoca Maryborough and St Arnaud.
To help make the event memorable, fun and safe for 5,000 students from 100 schools in over 250 teams, we still have roles available for some of the week’s events.
This year we also need volunteers to help promote the event’s ‘waste wise’ message as part of the Waste Education team. This is an opportunity to help guide patrons to sort their waste, reduce landfill and recycle their utensils.

SENIORS MONTH
To celebrate the Victorian Seniors Festival, Maryborough Regional Library will host the ‘Central Goldfields Life and Leisure Expo’.

This exciting event brings together a wide range of community stalls, engaging talks, demonstrations, a fun day out socialising and also features guest speaker Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico.
The Expo will be held from 2pm to 7pm, next Wednesday 30 October. Admission is free and no bookings are required. The event is made possible thanks to funding through the Victorian Government’s Seniors Festival 2024 Active Living Grant program.
