HAVE YOUR SAY

Road Management Plan

As the road authority for around 1,300 kilometres of roads in Central Goldfields Shire, we are required to update our Road Management Plan every four years.

The review of the Road Management Plan is important because it determines the way in which Council manages, inspects, repairs and maintains its roads.

The aim is to ensure our road network is safe, well presented and maintained to standards that are affordable.

To find out more, and to review the Draft Plan and provide feedback, visit: www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/roadmanagementplan2024

DELEDIO RESERVE

Since 2023, we’ve been working in partnership with the Dunolly Football Netball Club and the Deledio Recreation Reserve Committee to design and deliver a new netball court and a multi-use tennis and netball court, along with night lighting.

Over the past week over 230 cubic metres of concrete has been poured which will now be allowed to cure, then an acrylic surfacing can be applied.

During this time, we will be installing footpaths, shelters, drainage, lighting and much more.

The project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Council.

LOCAL JOBS

aged.care.corridor.png

We’re inviting interested businesses and organisations in our region to take part in an ‘Industry Open House Week’, by nominating a time for at least one site tour or presentation, showcasing the employment opportunities you offer.

We have developed this additional initiative due to the demand for places at the recent Maryborough Careers Expo. Our Industry Open House Week will be held from Monday, 8 April to Friday, 12 April.

Your business or organisation can submit a short Expression of Interest (EOI) form to outline what it can offer to job seekers, those seeking a change of career or those re-entering the workforce.

For further information and submission of your EOI, visit:

www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/IndustryOpenHouse

LOCAL LAWS

Nature Strip Parking

A reminder from our Compliance Team that Victorian law prohibits parking of vehicles on nature strips throughout our Shire.

Parking on nature strips can cause damage to utilities and their access points, impede access for utility companies and even obstruct emergency services. It can also be a danger to pedestrians and motorists.

Plus it can be expensive, with a range of fines up to $600. Trailers, cars, caravans, boats, campers - any vehicle except a bicycle, is not allowed on a nature strip.

For further information visit: VicRoads Where can I Park?

Dog Attacks

cranky.dog.png

This year we have already investigated nine dog attacks in our Shire. These include dogs attacking other dogs and dogs attacking people.

While most incidents are not serious, some can be dangerous and cause significant injury. In certain cases the matter also goes to court.

To help prevent these problems, dog owners are kindly asked to please:

  • Socialise your pet
  • Be aware of surrounds (the presence of children for example)
  • Keep your dog secure on your property
  • Keep your dog under effective control at all times when walking

The off-leash dog park in Maryborough is located between Jack Pascoe Reserve and the Maryborough Wattle Reserve netball courts at Cadle Street.
