TALBOT SUCCESS

Talbot.thank.you.png

Many thanks to the members of the Talbot community who attended the community heritage consultation and information session on Monday evening, 19 February. Much local knowledge and many places of heritage interest were discussed.

Important points were also made about the need for sensitive growth as Talbot Futures progresses.

This exchange will be a great support to the independent field work and desktop research currently underway.

The Heritage Review Stage One Findings Report, which will be available to the community, is expected by June this year.

If you were unable to attend and would like to share your knowledge – or learn more about the project, visit:

LIVE4LIFE LEADERSHIP

In 2021 we were fortunate to be chosen as a Live4Life community. This was due to the collective efforts of Council, local schools and local services who recognised the need for more support for our young people.

We are proud of the work the Central Goldfields Live4Life program has already delivered to our community in improving the mental health of local young people.

The Live4Life Central Goldfields Partnership Group is inviting community members to apply to undertake the training needed to become a Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

All relevant associated costs will be covered and once trained you will be able to deliver Youth Mental Health First Aid training in the community during 2024 and 2025.

Applications close Friday 2 March.

To find out more, and to apply, visit www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/mentalhealthfirstaid

CAT TRAPS

cat.napped.GRAB.jpg

In March our Animal Control Team will commence setting traps to capture feral cats, starting with the Dundas Road area in Maryborough.

To reduce feral colonies, captured cats are checked for microchips, desexing and registration, then returned to owners or placed in the pound for observation. Feral animals can cause disease outbreaks in domestic pet populations, while also impacting native animal populations.

To ensure animal welfare, traps are set in the evening and then checked the following morning. Unregistered animals may attract a fine for owners. Registration renewals are due by 10 April, with notices being sent out from March.

To register your pets, visit:

www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/RegisterYourPet
