Volunteer opportunities

Volunteers play an integral role in delivering key Council services and events.

It's also a great way to get involved in your community. As a volunteer you get to support a local cause and be part of a group, while at the same time gaining many personal benefits.

If you think you have something to contribute to your community, Central Goldfields Shire Council would love to hear from you. We require volunteers for the following programs:

GALLERY VOLUNTEERS

Council is looking for motivated, reliable people to join the Central Goldfields Art Gallery as a volunteer.

Volunteers are needed to provide assistance to the Gallery team in a number of ways including front of house, administration, events and education programs.

You’ll be required to work three-hour weekend shifts with full training, support, new friends, life skills and fun provided in return for your time.

To find out more contact the Central Goldfields Art Gallery on 03 5460 4588 or email or mail@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au

VOLUNTEER TOURISM AMBASSADORS

Council is inviting expressions of interest from interested, community-minded people to participate in our Central Goldfields Tourism Ambassador program.

Volunteers will be involved with Council-hosted events and festivals and your role will include welcoming visitors to the shire; assisting with the evaluation of events and festivals; distributing visitor information; directing visitors to points of interest; and conducting short visitor surveys.

For more information contact the Visitor Information Centre on 03 5461 9102 or email or mail@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au.

 VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE VOLUNTEERS

The Visitor Information Centre is looking for well-presented volunteers, to meet and greet visitors to our region.

You will be a valued member of our team who are passionate about promoting our community and region, and are proud of the outstanding customer service we provide.

If your local knowledge is limited, we will teach you everything you need to know. This role is a great way to become more familiar with both the history and attractions in your local communities.

We can offer you a regular weekly two hour shift or a more flexible arrangement.

To find out more, please contact the Visitor Information Services Team on 5460 4511 or email

L2P LEARNER DRIVER MENTOR PROGRAM

If you are a fully qualified driver who wants to teach the next generation of motorists then Central Goldfields Shire Council would love to hear from you.

The L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program recruits volunteer mentors to help learner drivers achieve their required 120 hours of driving practice.

For various reasons it can be difficult for some young people in our community to achieve the required hours to obtain a licence.

Learner drivers must complete a minimum 120 hours of driving in order to take a probationary driver’s licence test.

To be a volunteer mentor, you must:

  • Have an interest in or worked with young people
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be willing to participate in a two-day training program
  • Be committed to spend at least two hours a week driving with a young person
  • Be willing to undertake a police check, Working With Children’s Check and a VicRoads Driver History Report

To become a volunteer driver, contact Council's L2P Program Coordinator on 03 5461 0610 or email
