Important information on Purchasing Water

It’s that time of year when many residents may be facing the need to purchase water to fill their water tanks.

When buying in water for human consumption it’s important that you check you are buying in water from a registered Water Carter – this ensures that they meet the requirements of the Australian drinking water standards.

All Water Carters must be registered under the Food Act 1984 and hold a current certificate issued by their registering Council.

Council encourages all residents to check/view that your Water Carter holds a current 2020 Food Act Certificate of registration and registration with the water authority. If they cannot provide this we strongly recommend that you DO NOT purchase water from the operator.

If you have concerns that you may have been supplied with water that does not meet the Australian drinking water standards by a Water Carter, cease using the water for any food preparation or human consumption immediately.

For further advice or to lodge a complaint regarding a Water Carter email our Environmental Health Officer Ryan Roberts at

Community Satisfaction Survey

Each year, Council participates in the Victorian Government’s state-wide Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey.

Residents and households may receive a telephone phone call from now until March from the independent market research agency, National Field Services asking a number of questions about different services Council provides.

The survey data provides Council with a local community perspective on service delivery performance over the past year and useful insight into where Council should focus efforts to make improvements to meet changing community expectations.

Details and individual responses are confidential. Only the overall results are shared with Council.

Leading Excellence Maryborough 2020 Workshop series

LEAD Loddon Murray is calling for locals to join its Leading Excellence Maryborough 2020 workshop series.

In 2020, LEAD Loddon Murray is broadening the reach of Leading Excellence Maryborough, by inviting residents to attend all, or part of the upcoming workshops to encourage as many community members as possible to embrace the opportunity to learn skills, make new friends and build opportunities.

Residents who would like to make a difference in the community by taking on a leadership role in community groups, service clubs, sporting associations or serving on council, benefit from access to skills, experience and networks to support them in their roles.

Participants spend a range of program days together, exploring and seeking to understand local issues from the perspective of residents, community groups, business and industry in the Central Goldfields Shire.

A key focus of the program is developing leaders who will influence the narrative of the community of Maryborough, instilling pride, confidence and connectedness in community members and the collective identity of the town.

To register for all eight workshops contact Lisa Renato - or 0439 631 231.

Some fully funded places are available for those without the means to participate, contact Lisa to secure one for these places.
