WORKS UPDATE

Maryborough road and footpath upgrade

Works to reconstruct Primrose Street, between Spring Street and Golden Wattle Drive and the whole length of Porter Avenue have commenced.

The project also includes the replacement of the existing footpath – 300 metres along Primrose Street and 583 metres along Porter Avenue.

The $1.24 million upgrade is made possible thanks to the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery program.

The project will be delivered by Doran Earthmoving, on behalf of Council and is expected to take 8 to 10 weeks to complete – weather depending.

Where possible the works will be undertaken under traffic, although some road closures will be experienced during the works. For the safety of all road users and pedestrians please obey all traffic signage and the direction of traffic controllers.

Carisbrook flood recovery update

Bucknall and Bland reserve re-opened to the public earlier this week.

There are still some flood recovery projects to be carried out over the coming month:

  • Public toilets – works to repair the toilet block in Bucknall Reserve are now underway. S Dell Plumbing were awarded the contract to carry out the works following a public tender process, with works expected to be completed early April. Visitors and locals will need to continue to use the public toilet facilities at Market Square until this project is complete.
  • Walking trails – gravel and edging has been replaced – another round of compacting will be carried out in the coming weeks
  • Playground – new soft fall mulch will be installed by Friday 10 March meaning the playground will be safe and ready for play

These projects have been made possible thanks to the Victorian Government’s Council Flood Support Fund.

Street tree requests now open

Residents across the Shire can now submit a request to have a street tree planted to increase shade coverage and aid with the beautification of our streetscapes.

To submit a request contact Council’s Customer Service team on 5461 0610.

Requests close 10 March 2023. Trees are limited to one per house block.

Residents will play a key role in watering the trees as they establish their roots.
