Animal Registrations now overdue

Pet owners are reminded that animal registrations are now overdue.

If you are a dog or cat owner, you are required by state legislation to register your pet by 10 April every year.

Registering a dog or cat greatly improved the chances of it being returned if it became lost.

Council's Compliance team have commenced doorknocking across the Shire to check your pets are registered - the fine for non-registrations is $363.

To avoid a fine, pet-owners are encouraged to register their pet as soon as possible. The cost to register a desexed cat or dog is $37 and if you hold a pension card the cost is $18.50

For pet registration renewals, residents can pay their animal registration via:

• BPay – online or by telephone

• In person - Central Goldfields Shire Customer Service Centre, 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

• Mail – cheques can be mailed to PO Box 194, Maryborough, 3465

For more information, including the form for a new registration, visit or contact Council on 5461 0610 to have one mailed to you.

Asset Plan available to view

The Central Goldfields Shire Asset Plan 2022-2032 is available for the community to view and become familiar with. It’s an important document which talks about how Council will manage and maintain its assets over the next 10 years.

Council assets include everything from roads, footpaths, bridges, buildings including libraries and public toilets, drainage, playgrounds, picnic tables, lakes, garden beds – just to name a few.

The Plan will continue to develop in the future as the individual asset plans for the sub-areas of the Asset Plans are created.

Maryborough outdoor exercise equipment

If you’ve visited the Princes Park precinct over the past week you may have noticed that the new outdoor exercise equipment project has started.

The concrete slab and exercise equipment are now in place with the rubber surface to be installed when the weather permits.

The project, which features four exercise stations, providing a total of 10 pieces of equipment – is funded by the Victorian Government’s Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.

The equipment is expected to be ready for use mid-June – weather depending.

Makers and Collectors market

The ‘deconstructed’ market trail – invites residents and visitors to explore Dunolly, Carisbrook, Talbot and Maryborough and the undiscovered gems these townships have to offer.

The Market is a Council initiative made possible with funding from the Victorian  Government as a part of the COVIDsafe Outdoor Activation Fund.
