Customer sites re-opening for 2020
Council’s Customer Service Centre at 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough and the Depot/Pound in Burns Street, Maryborough have re-opened following the Christmas and New Year period.
The Maryborough Regional Library has also re-opened, with the Maryborough and Dunolly libraries opening at their usual times. The Maryborough Library is open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturdays 9.30am to 12noon while the Dunolly Library is open Tuesdays 10am to 1.30pm and Thursdays 1.30 to 4.30pm.
The Talbot Outreach Service will resume from tomorrow Saturday 4 January. This service operates at the Talbot community Library in Camp Street and is open on Tuesdays 2 to 4pm and Saturdays 10am to 12noon.
Several other Council sites are re-opening over the coming weeks.
Central Goldfields Art Gallery will reopen on Thursday 16 January from 10am.
The Goldfields Family Centre’s children’s centre re-opens at 6.45am on Wednesday 8 January while the Maternal and Child Health Service is open via appointment by calling 5461 1154.
The Community Hub will re-open on Monday 13 January.
Burke Street road works update
Due to road works along Burke Street, the street will be closed between Inkerman and Kars streets until Friday 31 January, 2020.
The works will be undertaken by Doran Earthmoving and it is anticipated they will be completed by the end of January 2020.
The works include:
• Footpath renewal
• Replacing all existing kerb and channel
• Formalising of the existing school crossing
• Minor drainage works
• Road pavement reconstruction works
Provisions will be made to accommodate all affected residents and their vehicles during the works.
For the safety of road users, pedestrians and road workers please ensure all road works signage and directions are obeyed.
All existing large Desert Ash trees on the northern side of Burke Street will remain.
The three small trees on the south side of Burke Street will be removed and replaced with Desert Ash trees to match the existing trees on the north side of the road.
Changes to waste management
Due to public holidays during the Christmas and New Year’s period, there are some changes to waste pick ups.
The green waste pick up will now be Friday 10 January and Friday 24 January, 2020 or the second and fourth Fridays in January.
These changes are for January only. Green waste will be picked up on the first and third Fridays for all other months (unless otherwise specified).
Australia Day commemorative medals and kindergartner books
Central Goldfields Shire Council will present commemorative medals and books to all children born in the Central Goldfields Shire in 2019 and to those beginning four-year-old kinder in the Shire in 2020.
The ceremony will take place at Council’s Australia Day celebrations at Station Domain, Maryborough on Sunday 26 January, 2020.
Breakfast will be served from 8.30am before official proceedings commence at 9.15am.

Registrations for the medallions and books close on Friday 23 January, 2020.
Residents are invited to join us on Sunday 26 January at our Australia Day free, family event in Station Domain, Maryborough.
A free breakfast and children’s activities will commence at 8.30am and official proceedings will start at 9.15am. The Australia Day awards – including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Award of the Year – will also be announced.
During this year’s citizenship ceremony, 13 residents will become Australian citizens.
Across the Shire, various community groups and organisations will also host Australia Day events at the following locations:

8.30am Held at Station Domain. Free breakfast provided, including a sausage sizzle, pancakes and cereal. All served by local community groups. Official citizenship and Australia Day awards ceremonies will be held. Baby medallions will be presented to all babies born during the previous year. Books will also be presented to all four-year-old children starting kinder. Official proceedings begin at 9:15am.
