COMMUNITY SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Animal Registrations now overdue

Pet owners are reminded that animal registrations are now overdue.

If you are a dog or cat owner, you are required by state legislation to register your pet by 10 April every year.

Registering a dog or cat greatly improved the chances of it being returned if it became lost.

Council's Compliance team will commence doorknocking across the Shire in late May to check your pets are registered - the fine for non-registrations is $363.

To avoid a fine, pet-owners are encouraged to register their pet as soon as possible. The cost to register a desexed cat or dog is $37 and if you hold a pension card the cost is $18.50

For pet registration renewals, residents can pay their animal registration via:

• BPay – online or by telephone

• In person - Central Goldfields Shire Customer Service Centre, 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

• Mail – cheques can be mailed to PO Box 194, Maryborough, 3465

For more information, including the form for a new registration, visit www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/registeryourpet or contact Council on 5461 0610 to have one mailed to you.

PROJECT UPDATE

Electrical line clearing maintenance works

Council contractors will commence our annual electrical line clearing maintenance works next week.

The works, due to commence in Maryborough on Monday 30 May, involves the clearing of vegetation from overhead powerlines.

The works are expected to take two weeks to complete.

Resealing program

Did you know we have 524 kilometres of sealed (bitumen roads) in our Shire?

Sealed roads typically have a 15-year life span so, every year we allocate funding to keep them maintained. In the 2021/22 Council Budget, $537,000 was budgeted for our annual resealing program.

The works commenced last week and will be carried out by Boral and will take around two to three weeks to complete.

You can view the list of roads here: www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/resealingprogram2022

Maintenance grading is continuing across the Shire

Due to higher-than-average rainfall over the past few months, we’ve had an influx of work requests for maintenance grading.

We have one grader crew currently working through requests in the Talbot area – with the crew prioritising roads in the worst condition before working towards a maintenance cycle based on road conditions.

We are working towards having two additional grading crews operating from June to get through the requests as quickly as possible.

WHAT’S ON

Gallery talk - Visualising Shakespeare

When: Wednesday 1 June, 10.30am to 11.30am

The Gallery’s next art talk features Dr Rob Conkie, an internationally renowned scholar of Shakespeare and performance. This talk will offer a (mis)guided tour of the myriad ways visual artists have responded to the plays of Shakespeare. Everyone is welcome with entry by gold coin donation and refreshments provided.

To book tickets visit www.linktr.ee/CGArtGallery or email cgsc.art@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au or call 5661 6600.
