'Get on ya Scooter’ Strategy
We’re developing a ‘Get on ya Scooter’ Strategy to better understand the needs of the motorised scooter community in Maryborough.
The Strategy will enable us to identify key issues and hot spots and give consideration to any infrastructure improvements that need to be made.
It will also help us identify if there are education and safety programs we can provide.

Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan
Our Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 is now available for community feedback.
It has been developed thanks to the input of 75 residents who shared their ideas for how Council can create a harmonious environment for pets, people and other animals.

Children and Young People First Partnership Committee
Are you passionate about helping children and young people to live healthy and well?
Parents of children and community members who volunteer or work with young people are encouraging to submit an expression of interest for Council’s new Children and Young People First Partnership Committee.
We are looking for six enthusiastic community representatives to work with young people, Council, and key organisations ton assist children and young people to be active, eat healthy, and look after their mental health in Central Goldfields as part of the Children and Young People First project.

Ensuring our community continues to be inclusive
Central Goldfields Shire will continue to be accessible and inclusive for people living with a disability following the adoption of Inclusive: Central Goldfields Shire’s Disability Plan 2022-2027 at Tuesday night’s (23/11) Council Meeting.
Inclusive ensures that Central Goldfields’ goods, services, facilities and employment opportunities are accessible and inclusive for people living with a disability.


Slashing update
Council’s roadside slashing program continues with crews now finished at Carisbrook. Slashing has commenced in the Moolort area and is still ongoing in the Talbot and surrounding area as well as the fire access tracks around Dunluce.
Grading is also taking place in the same area.

Free green waste disposal
Council is offering free green waste disposal to residents to help prepare their properties for the upcoming fire season.
Residents can drop off their green waste for free at the Carisbrook, Talbot and Dunolly transfer stations every weekend from this Saturday 27 November to Sunday 19 December.
Funding for Dunolly and Talbot
In April this year we applied for funding as part of the Federal Government’s STAND program.
The funding program was introduced to ensure communities have access to information and can communicate with friends and family at key buildings during times of emergency.
The funding will see WiFi internet over NBN satellite installed at both the Talbot ANA Hall and the Dunolly Bowling Club.

Pascoe Avenue
Works to upgrade Maryborough’s Pascoe Avenue are nearing completion, with the drainage works completed and the final layer of crushed rock laid earlier this week.
The project, funded as part of Council’s 2021/22 Budget, is part of Council’s road renewal program.


Works are expected to be complete by mid-December. 

Library upgrade about to begin
Works to upgrade the Maryborough Regional Library will commence shortly.
The project will see the Library refurbished and modernised with a circulation desk and flexible shelving. Fresh paint and carpet will also be delivered as post of the project.
The Library will close from Monday 29 November while it is relocated to the Resource Centre atrium for the duration of the project.
The Library will re-open in the atrium on Monday 6 December.


Community Arts Exhibition
The 2021 Community Arts Exhibition is now open at the Visitor Information Centre located at the Maryborough Railway Station.
Bounce Back


Council’s Bounce Back is a program of free outdoor events to celebrate a return to community activities.
Bounce Back is held on Fridays at 10am at the Station Domain Amphitheatre, Station Drive, Maryborough.

  • 26 November: Fun Fitness with Brad for all ages and fitness
  • levels.
  • 3 December: Tai Chi in the Park for anyone who would like to give it a try. ‘Meditation in Motion’.
  • 10 December: Community Music led by Stella Savy from the Sweet Mona’s Choir in Ballarat. There’ll be drums, guitars and new and old songs for all.
