Railway Street, Gillies Street intersection upgrade
Our Works team is currently upgrading the Gillies and Railway streets' intersection.
There is a road closure to all motorists except to local traffic from the Gillies and Railway streets' intersection to Fuller Street.
The approximate $150,000 upgrade will include new kerb and channel islands and is estimated to be complete in three weeks.
Special Meeting of Council
A Special Meeting of Council will be held in the Maryborough Community Hub, 48 Burns Street, Maryborough, on Monday 4 February 2019 commencing at 6pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider Planning Permit Application 094/18 for the use and development of a renewable energy facility (90mw solar farm), creation of an access to a road and associated works at 3348 Pyrenees Highway, Carisbrook; 3080 Pyrenees Highway, Moolort; and 160 Bald Hill Road, Carisbrook; and Planning Permit Application 131-18 for the use and development of a telecommunications tower at 160 Bald Hill Road, Carisbrook.
All interested community members are welcome to attend the Special Meeting of Council.
Impounded sheep to be sold at auction
Central Goldfields Shire Council Rangers impounded seven Dorper cross breed sheep at Bowenvale on Saturday 19 January, 2019.
The sheep have no identification tags on them.
If the sheep are not claimed within seven days and all pound fees and costs paid to Central Goldfields Shire Council they will be sold at public auction on Thursday 31January, 2019 at 10am.
The sheep are held at the Shire livestock pound.
Inspections can be made by appointment by calling the Ranger on 0407 508 448.
Australia Day public holiday
Council’s Customer Service Centre, 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough will close for the Australia Day public holiday on Monday 28 January.
This closure includes the Maryborough Regional Library, Goldfields Family Centre and Depot/Pound.
The Central Goldfields Shire after hours service will operate as normal. Urgent after hours issues that relate to Council infrastructure can be reported on 0419 005 577.
After hours issues in regards to urgent animal control can be reported on 0400 690 794.
All Central Goldfields Shire locations will re-open on Tuesday 29 January at 8.30am.
Come and celebrate Australia Day at Station Domain in Maryborough.
Residents are invited to join us on Saturday 26 January at our free Australia Day family event.
A free breakfast and children’s activities will commence at 8.30am and official proceedings will start at 9.15am.
The celebrations will feature entertainment from the Maryborough City Brass Band and singer Jaclyn Holland.

Community Voice Panel endorsed
Central Goldfields Shire Council endorsed the establishment of the Community Voice Panel at the December (18/12) Ordinary Meeting of Council.
The Panel will consist of a group of community members with an interest in Council activities, projects and issues.
The Community Voice Panel will improve the way Council consults and listens to residents and extend and broaden Council’s community engagement reach within the community.
As a member of the Panel, residents will have the opportunity to have input into Council-decision making.
To be a member of the panel, community members must be 16 years or over and be a resident of the Central Goldfields Shire.
The Community Voice Panel is a key outcome of the Engaging Central Goldfields: A Community Engagement Framework.

Australia Day commemorative medals and free books
An annual tradition, Central Goldfields Shire Council presents commemorative medals to all children born during 2018 and free books for four-year-old children starting kindergarten in 2019.
The commemorative medals and books will be presented at Council’s Australia Day celebrations at Station Domain in Maryborough on Saturday 26 January, 2019.
To register your child for a medal, email a copy of their birth certificate to email@example.com or mail to Central Goldfields Shire Council, PO Box 194, Maryborough, 3465 by Friday 25 January, 2019.
To register your child for a free book, email their name, kindergarten they are attending, your name and contact phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 25 January, 2019.
