Visitor Information team return to station

Our Visitor Information team has worked hard moving back to the Maryborough Railway Station for their re-opening at 9am on Saturday.

The transformed Central Goldfields Visitor Centre is part of the second stage redevelopment of the historic building and its facilities.

The team will settle in next to the station café as work continues on the new audio-visual interpretation experience. Once complete, a schedule of innovative community events and activities at the facility will be announced, following its official opening later in the year.

Welcome home team!

Energy Breakthrough - exhibitors, helpers, suppliers

The entries are in and excitement is building for the 2023 Energy Breakthrough! If you’d like to help out there is a special meeting being held to outline program changes and opportunities to be involved.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 4 from 5pm to 6pm

WHERE: Maryborough Community Hub, behind Council offices in Nolan Street

We’re also calling for exhibitors, food vendors and community group caterers to submit an Expression of Interest. It’s a great opportunity to gain exposure to a large market of over 17,000+ attendees. Ages range from 5 to 70 years throughout the event from Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 November.

Applications close Wednesday 6 October 2023.

Since early August, Council’s Local Laws team have been patrolling the Maryborough CBD issuing warnings to motorists who overstay in time-designated spaces and who use disabled bays when not permitted to do so.

Fines will be issued for those not complying with restrictions from October 2, 2023.

This approach complements the Maryborough Police, who also enforce parking in loading zones and no standing areas.

We urge community members to support these changes, which will increase the turnover of car parking spaces and better support our local business community.

With Spring September school holidays well underway, our Youth, Gallery and Library teams still have plenty on offer for the remainder of the break.

To find out what’s on visit:

The initial community engagement for new play spaces was hugely successful, and Council thanks everyone for taking their own time to fill in the survey. There were over 300 submissions, detailing important information as the Play Spaces Strategy develops.

A water play facility is overwhelmingly supported, over twenty percent of respondents have a child with a disability, and over fifty percent would travel more than 10 kilometres to use a new facility. Most surveys also provided a locality.

The next steps are to review and analyse the survey data – which is a big job! From the data Council will develop the Draft Strategy document, necessary for detailed funding applications.

To keep up to date visit:

The September Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 26 September at 6pm.

The agenda will be available to view from Friday, 22 September at:

The meeting will be held in-person at the Community Hub in Maryborough and is open to the community to attend.

The meeting will also be livestreamed to Council’s Facebook page and a video will be available at the above web address following the meeting.
