HOME AGAIN

Visitor Information team return to station

 2.VIC.tourist.centre.jpg

Our Visitor Information team has worked hard moving back to the Maryborough Railway Station for their re-opening at 9am on Saturday.

The transformed Central Goldfields Visitor Centre is part of the second stage redevelopment of the historic building and its facilities.

The team will settle in next to the station café as work continues on the new audio-visual interpretation experience. Once complete, a schedule of innovative community events and activities at the facility will be announced, following its official opening later in the year.

Welcome home team!

Since early August, Council’s Local Laws team have been patrolling the Maryborough CBD issuing warnings to motorists who overstay in time-designated spaces and who use disabled bays when not permitted to do so.

Fines will be issued for those not complying with restrictions from October 2, 2023.

This approach complements the Maryborough Police, who also enforce parking in loading zones and no standing areas.

We urge community members to support these changes, which will increase the turnover of car parking spaces and better support our local business community.

SPRING SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

With Spring September school holidays well underway, our Youth, Gallery and Library teams still have plenty on offer for the remainder of the break.

PLAY SPACES

The initial community engagement for new play spaces was hugely successful, and Council thanks everyone for taking their own time to fill in the survey. There were over 300 submissions, detailing important information as the Play Spaces Strategy develops.

A water play facility is overwhelmingly supported, over twenty percent of respondents have a child with a disability, and over fifty percent would travel more than 10 kilometres to use a new facility. Most surveys also provided a locality.

The next steps are to review and analyse the survey data – which is a big job! From the data Council will develop the Draft Strategy document, necessary for detailed funding applications.
