Electrical Line Clearance Works — Tree Pruning Program

We will be conducting tree clearance works within the Electrical Line Clearance declared areas of Maryborough after 14 days and before 60 days of this notification.

Contractors will be undertaking the works on our behalf, and every effort will be made to ensure property access is maintained and minimal inconvenience is caused. For more information please contact Council’s Manager Operations on 5461 0610.

Funding announcements

The State Government has made three significant funding announcements this week:

  • $2 million in urgent works for the heritage-listed Maryborough Outdoor Pool
  • $1.5 million in funding for the Energy Breakthrough
  • $500,000 for the redevelopment of the Central Goldfields Art Gallery

Kerb renewal works underway

Kerb renewal works are expected to be complete early next week in Raglan Street, Maryborough.

Approximately 380 metres of kerb is being upgraded between Newton Street and Wills Street.

The east end of the project has now been completed with preparation and kerb pouring of the western side to take place next week.

The project is being delivered by Council’s works team and a contractor.

Footpath works

Footpath works in Bealiba have now commenced. Approximately 142 metres of footpath will be installed in Davies

Street between Grant and Cochrane Streets – opposite the Bealiba Primary School.

The project is being delivered by Council’s works team and a contractor.

Meanwhile in Dunolly, a new footpath is now complete at Bull and Market streets.

Rodborough and Baringhup road works

Works to reconstruct Rodborough Road are currently underway with works expected to take a further two weeks to complete. Baringhup Road will also be reconstructed as aprt of the next stage of the project.

The works will take place for approximately two kilometres along Rodborough Road and one kilometre along Baringhup Road.

Traffic lights will be used for the duration of the works and motorists are asked to obey all traffic directions.

The works are being delivered by Doran Earthmoving and are funded by Council, Regional Roads Victoria and Roads to Recovery.

Virtual Listening Post

Join our Administrators for a ‘Virtual Listening Post’ – via Facebook Live - on Thursday 28 May at 12.30pm.

With the current COVID-19 restrictions in place, and our last round of in person Listening Posts cancelled, we wanted to ensure our Listening Posts could continue in some way during this time.

Maryborough Outdoor Pool Improvement works

A $216,000 improvement project is now underway at the Maryborough Outdoor Pool.

This project will complement the State Government funding that was announced this week.

The project, funded as part of Council’s 2019/2020 Budget, will include installation of two shade sails and artificial turf, and an upgrade to the plant room.

National Volunteer Week — Thank you

This week is National Volunteer Week and to celebrate and we are taking this opportunity to publicly thank the many volunteers that play an integral role across our organisation.

We are lucky enough to have around 70 wonderful volunteers here at Council.

Our volunteers work across the Central Goldfields Art Gallery, Visitor Information Centre, L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program, Meals on Wheels, Social Support Program, Youth Engage program, the Pound and the Maryborough Regional Library.

We also have a further 1,000 volunteers who make the Energy Breakthrough the successful event that it is.

Together you provide countless hours to delivering our services and events to our community every day – and for that we want to say a very big thank you.

Happy National Volunteer Week from all of us here at Central Goldfields Shire Council.

Have Your Say — Flood study amendment for Carisbrook and Dunolly

We are working with the North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA) to update existing planning controls for identifying flood risk in the townships of Carisbrook and Dunolly.

The updated planning controls will be introduced through an amendment to the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme known as C031cgol.

This amendment will update the planning scheme maps and controls to identify the risk of flooding and flood damage on new development on land in the nominated overlays.

The amendment is now on public exhibition and community members have the opportunity to view the document make a submission on the proposed changes.

The Strategy will identify access and transport needs across the municipality and determine issues and opportunities with various modes of transport.

Under the requirements of the Road Management Act 2004, Council must establish a register of public roads of which it is the coordinating road authority.

Council’s Public Road Register Policy provides guidance to staff and the public to assist in determining which municipal roads are to be included on the Public Road Register.
