July Council Meeting

The July Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 26 July at 6pm.

The agenda will be available to view today (22/07) at: www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/councilmeetings

The meeting will be held in-person at the Community Hub in Maryborough and is open to the community to attend.

The meeting will also be livestreamed to Council’s Facebook page and a video will be available at the above web address following the meeting.

Minister visit to Gallery

Last Friday (15/07), Minister Jaala Pulford MP visited Central Goldfields Art Gallery to inspect progress on the redevelopment project.

The Gallery redevelopment is on track for completion later this year and is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Council.

Council to receive Community Satisfaction Survey

Council has received its 2022 Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey results, which features feedback from 400 local residents and was conducted in early 2022.

The results will go to the July Council Meeting next week for noting.

WASTE COLLECTION

Waste collection calendar

Not sure what day your bin is collected? 

The 2022/2023 waste collection calendar is available to download at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/wastecollection. Ratepayers will also receive a calendar in their rates notice in August. or you can also pick up a printed copy at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 22 Nolan Street.

PROJECT UPDATES 

Skate and Scooter Park  

Construction of the new Skate and Scooter Park at the Adventure Playground at Princes Park, Maryborough will commence in August.

The project is funded by the Victorian Government, Council and Community Bank Maryborough, Avoca and St Arnaud (in partnership with the Maryborough Lions Club).  

The project is expected to be complete by the end of October – weather permitting.

Carisbrook Levee

Stage Four, the final stage of the Carisbrook Levee project, will commence in August.

The project, to be delivered by Doran Earthmoving (following a public tender process in March this year), is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

The project is jointly funded by Federal and State Governments and Council.

Maryborough Railway Station

Delivery of Stage Two of the Maryborough Railway Station Activation Project will move a step closer this week with the advertising of the project tender.

Building on initial improvement works to the Station completed as part of Stage One of the project in March 2021, Stage Two will transform the Maryborough Railway Station into a visitor and activity hub that will accommodate a mix of tourism, commercial transport and community uses.

Stage Two is jointly funded with $1.8 million from the Victorian Government’s Stronger Communities Program and $200,000 from Council.

Our Operations team are busy with the following projects this week:

  • Kerb and Channel works in Carrick Street, Maryborough between Railway and Logan Streets
  • Maintenance grading now complete in Carisbrook with two crews now working in the Majorca area
  • Tree planting in Talbot
