Supporting our community services

Central Goldfields Shire Council confirmed its intention to lease part of the Maryborough Aerodrome to Ambulance Victoria at Tuesday night’s (18/12) Ordinary Meeting of Council.

Council will now advertise its intention to enter into a 21 year lease agreement, with an initial term of seven years, of $104 plus GST per annum with Ambulance Victoria for a 408m2 site at the Maryborough Aerodrome and invite submissions to the proposal to enter into this lease as required under the Local Government Act.

It is proposed that the Maryborough Ambulance Auxiliary will construct an Aeromedical Transfer Station at the Maryborough Aerodrome.

Council also approved leases with the Maryborough and Dunolly SES units at their respective sites at 70 Burns Street, Maryborough and 51 Broadway, Dunolly, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the State of Victoria, the Victoria State Emergency Service and the Municipal Association of Victoria established earlier this year.

One of the key aims of the Memorandum of Understanding is to provide security of tenure to VICSES for its volunteer units across Victoria by negotiating new long term lease agreements.

The lease terms are for Maryborough and Dunolly SES units are 10 and 40 years respectively.

The cost of the lease is to be $1 per annum (if demanded).
