Changes to waste management

Due to public holidays during the Christmas and New Year’s period, there are some changes to waste pick ups and transfer station opening hours.

There will be no garbage or recycling collections or transfer stations open on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

If you are a Carisbrook, Dunolly, Talbot or Maryborough resident and your recycling and garbage was scheduled to be picked up on Wednesday 25 December, it will be picked up on Friday 27 December, 2019.

Also, if you are a Maryborough resident and your garbage and recycling was scheduled to be picked up on Wednesday 1 January, 2020 it will be picked up on Friday 3 January, 2020.

Due to these changes, the green waste pick up will be Friday 10 January and Friday 24 January, 2020 or the second and fourth Fridays in January.

These changes are for January only. Green waste will be picked up on the first and third Fridays for all other months (unless otherwise specified).

The Dunolly and Talbot transfer stations will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, due to public holidays.

All other transfer stations are not affected and will operate at their usual times.

Keeping your pets safe during fireworks

Residents are reminded there will be fireworks at the Maryborough Highland Gathering at 10pm on Wednesday 1 January, 2020.

If possible, bring your pets inside with you and close curtains/blinds. You can also ensure your boundary fencing is secure so your pets cannot readily escape over or through them.

It is also vital that your pet is registered and identifiable with a Council registration tag and microchip and your details are up-to-date with Council.
