 INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATES

Roads closed

More rain this week caused flooding to occur across different areas in the municipality. For the latest list of roads closures visit www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/roadclosures

Roadside slashing

As one of the wettest years on record in Victoria with majority falling in last couple of months, weather conditions have made it difficult for Council to mow roadsides and reserves. This challenge is being experienced by many local councils across the state

The saturated ground conditions have not allowed mowers and slashing equipment to access many locations including the Velodrome.

Sustained warmer weather will be necessary for mowing activities to return and bring the growth back to manageable levels.

Council has plans in place to hit areas hard when weather conditions become more favorable including a fast tracked mowing and slashing program utilising internal and external contractor crews.

The long-term forecast doesn’t see stable weather patterns return until late November into December, however Council has and will continue to deliver reserve maintenance programs that respond to these conditions for continuing public use.

Bucknall Reserve, Carisbrook

A reminder that Bucknall Reserve Public Toilet area is closed indefinitely due to the recent flood events. This includes the nearby footpaths, BBQ area, and toilet block.

Council is working as quickly as possible to restore these community facilities and make them safe for use again.
