Draft Rating Strategy

Our Draft Rating Strategy is now available and residents are encouraged to provide feedback.

The Draft Rating Strategy proposes more equity between ratepayers by reducing the municipal charge to 10 percent of total property rating income and remove the differential discount for residential, commercial and industrial properties outside of Maryborough.

Community members can leave their feedback via an online survey at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay or by writing a submission addressed to Submissions, Central Goldfields Shire Council, PO Box 194, Maryborough, 3465 or by emailing submissions@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au

The closing date for feedback is Monday 1 April, 2019.

Community Voice Panel membership extended

A large number of registrations were received for the Central Goldfields Shire Community Voice Panel from residents who have an interest in Council activities, projects and issues.

Community Voice Panel members will have the opportunity to have ongoing input into Council-decision making and provide Council with insights into community sentiments and support for existing or prosed policies, programs and services.

Inclusion is a key factor for the Community Voice Panel and due to limited registrations from young people and residents from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background, Council is extending registrations to encourage more interest from these demographics.

If you are a young person aged 16-24 or are from an Indigenous background, visit

www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/communityengagement to download a registration form.

Once completed, forms can be emailed to mail@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au

Art Gallery tours

The Central Goldfields Art Gallery’s latest exhibition Golden Textures is now in its last weeks and tours are available for groups who want to gain a greater insight into the world of contemporary art quilting.

Eighteen of the highest standard contemporary art quilters from across Australia were selected for this year’s exhibition.

Where possible, exhibition curator Jenny Bacon – who is an international award-winning textile artist – conducts the tours.

Golden Textures finishes on Sunday 31 March. To book a group tour, contact the Gallery on 5460 4588.

2019 Leisure Services Guide

We are currently updating our Leisure Services Guide for 2019.

We have a plethora of recreational organisations in our Shire and the guide contains contact information for the majority of these groups including arts and craft, sporting clubs, schools, community groups and many more.

If you think your group should be included in the guide or your group’s information isn’t up to date, please contact Community Recreation Officer Ben Robertson at benr@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au  to add or update your group’s information.

Gordon Gardens update

Michael Smith and Associates have been appointed to prepare the Gordon Gardens Master Plan.

The Master Plan will outline areas of future development for the gardens and community meetings will be held in Dunolly in the coming weeks.
