LATEST NEWS
Live4life
The last few years have been tough.
The impact of COVID on our young people in particular has been substantial – this is why Council is excited to see the rollout of the award-winning Youth Live4Life program.
Live4Life is the only youth mental health and suicide prevention initiative designed specifically for rural and regional communities.
The evidence-based model builds both young people, and the local rural community’s capacity to recognise mental health concerns and seek and offer help.
As part of the Live4Life Central Goldfields implementation, this week we are running Youth Mental Health First Aid training course over two days.
The training teaches any adult how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.
Council will be growing the Live4Life presence by working with stakeholders, schools and the community.
Art Gallery Funding update
Council has welcomed $355,215 in funding for the Central Goldfields Art Gallery as part of the Victorian Government's Regional Collections Access Program.
The funding will extend and complement the scope of the current redevelopment project and see the replacement of the roof, fit out of the collection store and internal wall upgrades - all facets of the project that the budget for Stage 1-3 of the redevelopment did not allow for.
The funding will also include the acquisition of display cases which will ensure the Gallery meets industry standards in collection care and display.
PROJECT UPDATE
Carisbrook Recreation Reserve
Works on the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve upgrade are progressing well, with the slab for the main pavilion now poured.
While there have been some COVID related delays, works for the new Bowls/Community Pavilion are well underway.
The Bowls Club shed has been removed and key plumbing works are being completed prior to the slab being poured.
This $4.9 million project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Council.
