Australia Day Award winners

The 2019 Central Goldfields Shire Australia Day Award winners were announced at Maryborough on Australia day.

Citizen of the Year – Dan Leddin

Dan has made ongoing contributions to the local community, being a member of the Maryborough Golf Club for more than 20 years, where he has held positions of President and Director of Golf, and was integral in the initial set up of local radio station, Goldfields FM.

Two days each week, Dan spends time with local secondary students to teach them about radio and allows them to participate in broadcasts. Dan regularly broadcasts live from community events and hosts his own radio shows.

Young Citizen of the Year – Lachlan Steed

Lachy is involved in several committees and is Maryborough Theatre Company President. Lachy has hosted multiple local events including Maryborough Relay for Life, the Central Goldfields Shire Australia Day celebrations, Maryborough Arts Society concerts and Carols by Candlelight.

A past Queen’s Scout, Lachy is also a member of the Energy Breakthrough’s media team where he writes articles on visiting schools and conducts on-camera interviews with participants.

Community Award of the Year – Daughters of the West

Daughters of the West was a 10-week community health program for women aged 18 and over and was run by Maryborough District Health Service during 2018.

The program aimed to encourage local women to participate in physical activity and link them with other services in the community that they can engage with.

Community Satisfaction Survey

Residents are advised that from Monday 4 February, for the period of up to three weeks, your household may receive a phone call from an independent market research agency, National Field Services.

National Fields Services have been commissioned by Local Government Victoria to conduct the annual community satisfaction survey on behalf of Victorian Councils including Central Goldfields Shire.

The survey has been designed to assess the performance of Central Goldfields Shire across a range of measures to identify ways to provide improvement or more effective service delivery to residents.

The survey will involve telephone interviews conducted among a representative sample of residents.

We appreciate you taking the time to assist us with your valuable feedback.

Please be assured that your details and individual responses are confidential. Only the overall results are shared with Central Goldfields Shire Council.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Central Goldfields Shire Council Customer Service Centre on 5461 0610.
